Federal Health Minister Mark Holland and federal Justice Minister Arif Virani deplored the rollout by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith of what the premier billed as “new policies to support children and youth” — but which Virani argued are “targeting and perhaps even demonizing” for “some political purpose” vulnerable children who are transgender or non-binary in that province.

After watching Griselda on Netflix, although fictionalized, I realized that it was the first time I learned her life story. My teenage years were spent in Medellin. I knew her name but knew little of her. The people from Medellin recognized the usual suspects: Pablo Escobar, the Ochoa family, and the Cali cartel. Curiously, Griselda Blanco was not a household name.

Nova Scotia to shore up its prosecutor’s office with new jobs
Nova Scotia is adding new job positions to its Crown's office in a bid to address backlog and prosecutor burnout. The province’s government announced Jan. 25 that it would be adding 27 permanent positions to its Public Prosecution Service (PPS): 11 Crown lawyers, six legal assistants and 10 new positions for the PPS’s “intake team pilot project.”

In a recent video interview/podcast the would-be next prime minister of Canada, Conservative party leader Pierre Poilievre, indicated his support for “parental rights” in schools and at the same time supported the premiers of New Brunswick and Saskatchewan and their policies relating to the informing of parents for their consent of their children indicated that they wished to change their pronouns or names.
