The law firm was seeking a total of $18,159 plus interest on their unpaid bill presented to the Legal Services Society (LSS). In 2009, when the accused was 15 years old, he was charged with the second degree murder of his nephew. The firm was involved in the defence of the accused. The accused was found unfit following his review board hearings. However, when he was 18, he was found to be fit but fragile by both the review board and the court. Since the accused was a ward of the government, his legal fees were funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development until he turned 19. At that point, prior to the preliminary inquiry, the firm applied for funding from the LSS. The accused was acquitted in 2015....
