Especially in the context of an alleged fraud, Marevas are typically sought ex parte — without notice — to the defendants. It is not difficult to see why. If given advanced notice that their accounts may be frozen, accused fraudsters may dissipate their assets leaving themselves judgment proof and their victims without recourse....
