The Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society (NSBS) announced on March 17 that it will close its Halifax office until April 3 “to align with the Province’s advice to practice social distancing” and help reduce the spread of the virus.
The NSBS, which posted the announcement on its website, stresses that staff are available both remotely and via e-mail during office hours. The law society’s public intake service will also continue to be available for those with concerns about a lawyer.
Documents may continue to be dropped off at a drop box at the law society, on the eighth floor, outside reception, at the Cogswell Tower, 800-2000 Barrington St., in Halifax.
The NSBS library will remain open, but no staff will be on site.
A spokesperson said NSBS events have been cancelled until April, at which time the situation will be reassessed.
NSBS reception can be contacted by phone at (902) 422-1491, or by e-mail at info@nsbs.org.
The NSBS will continue to provide updates on its website, as well as through its Facebook and Twitter accounts.
