According to the court’s press release, starting March 20, the court is suspending all non-urgent appeal and chamber matters until April 17, at which time there will be a reassessment of the situation.
Urgent matters will be heard by teleconference or where all parties consent to a paper hearing, or if they consent to having their chamber matters heard based on filed written materials only.
In-custody matters are being deemed urgent and will be an exception to the suspension.
The urgency of other matters will be determined by the registrar after consulting with the parties involved.
Manitoba’s Court of Queen’s Bench and the provincial court have also suspended regular operations, with the exception of some urgent matters.
