Law360 Canada ( July 11, 2022, 8:36 AM EDT) -- Appeal by the Law Society of Saskatchewan from a decision of the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal that stayed disciplinary proceedings against Abrametz. The Law Society brought disciplinary proceedings against Abrametz in 2012. In 2018, Abrametz was found guilty of four charges of conduct unbecoming a lawyer and in 2019, he was disbarred without a right to apply for readmission for two years. During the disciplinary proceedings, Abrametz’s application for a stay of the proceedings based on inordinate delay was dismissed by the Hearing Committee. The Court of Appeal dismissed Abrametz’s conduct appeal but allowed his appeal of the stay decision, finding the inordinate delay resulted in significant prejudice to Abrametz and brought the Law Society’s disciplinary process into disrepute....
