Alberta case proves warrantless search not automatic grounds for appeal

Hill (August 21, 2023, 12:56 PM EDT) -- In a Toronto Star report published Aug. 15, 2023, Betsy Powell writes: “A number of serious cases ranging from attempted murder to gun and drug charges have collapsed in recent months over Ontario police conduct, with reasons including the slow disclosure of evidence, racial profiling, an unwarranted no-knock raid, testimony an officer stole and overdosed on drug evidence, the theft of $6,000 from a drug dealer’s apartment, and an officer calling his confidential informant’s defence counsel a ‘gangster lawyer.’”...
