On June 29, the government of Canada announced it would not move forward with the controversial DST. Originally announced in 2020, the DST would have imposed a three per cent tax on revenue earned from certain digital services that rely on engagement, data and content contributions of Canadian users, and certain sales or licensing of Canadian user data.
