Law360 Canada (September 30, 2025, 2:57 PM EDT) -- The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) will be holding a virtual roundtable to “explore and discuss” its draft Action Plan for Truth and Reconciliation.

According to a press release issued Sept. 24, the OSC Roundtable: Pathways to Truth and Reconciliation is “one of the last chances to consider the draft” and to provide the commission with comments before the feedback period closes on Oct. 31.

The OSC’s website noted that the Action Plan for Truth and Reconciliation “begins to address the intersection of Indigenous Peoples and the Ontario capital markets.”

“Indigenous Peoples have been systematically excluded from equal participation in the economy, including the capital markets. Reconciliation includes continued engagement with Indigenous Peoples and communities to understand perspectives and needs within the capital markets to enhance participation,” the OSC added.

The roundtable will be held virtually on Oct. 21, and pre-registration is required to access the link.

The roundtable will be opened by Grandmother Dorothy Peters, from Aboriginal Legal Services, and panel speakers will include:

  • Cherie Brant, partner and national leader, Indigenous law, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP
  • Clint Davis, chief executive officer, Cedar Leaf Capital
  • Carol Anne Hilton, chief executive officer, Indigenomics Institute
  • Tom Hunter, senior advisor of Indigenous engagement, Canadian Securities Administrators
  • Myan Marcen-Gaudaur, director, Indigenous relations & reconciliation, Scotiabank
  • Scott Munro, chief executive officer, First Nations Financial Management Board

“We encourage rightsholders in Ontario, Indigenous organizations, market participants, regulators, investors and investor advocates to attend virtually, listen in and provide feedback,” the release explained.
