In essence, rather than suffer a suspension or disbarment, the lawyer avoids discipline on the charges and is typically given the opportunity to enter into an undertaking not to practise until he or she is cleared to do by a doctor (and to the satisfaction of the LSO) and is ultimately allowed to return to practice with restrictions and safeguards in place....
