The mother was born in 1982 and was employed with McCain Foods Limited (McCain’s). The respondent father was born in 1977 and worked for the same company in Puerto Rico for approximately 20 years. The parties married in Puerto Rico in November 2012 and their child was born in April 2013. In April 2018, the mother relocated to New Brunswick for her job with McCain’s. In late June 2018, the father and child joined the mother in New Brunswick. The father’s work was quite flexible, and he was able to work from home. During the early years of the child’s life, the father was the primary caregiver. The parties separated in January 2019. In June 2019, the parties began alternating the child’s care on a weekly basis. McCain’s continued to assist the mother with her application for permanent residence status in Canada. She and the child were both in Canada pursuant to her work permit. Since December 2020, the mother had been paying child support of $500 per month. She had never paid spousal support. The father was seeking retroactive and prospective child and spousal support. He was seeking a parenting order that would allow him to return to Puerto Rico with the child....
