Whispering sweet nothings: Surreptitious promise no guarantee of reappointment to tribunal

Ontario 2023 ONSC 3537 the plaintiff was the vice-chair of the Assessment Review Board (ARB) until 2019, when his term ended, and he wasn’t reappointed. The plaintiff, arguing that he had been promised he could serve another term with the ARB, brought an employment breach of contract claim as a proposed class action. The proposed class were all members of adjudicative tribunals in Ontario who were not reappointed when their terms ended....
