Law360 Canada (August 27, 2026, 4:51 PM EDT) -- Alberta’s Court of King’s Bench has made some tweaks to its rules on digital orders while offering a new guide for litigants in family law cases.

Effective Sept. 15, digital orders are mandatory for all applications judge desk applications and chambers hearings in the King’s Bench Filing Digital Service – Civil and Chambers.​

Lawyers and legal assistants must submit a digital order for all applications judges desk applications and civil chambers matters, including matters that were originally submitted prior to Sept. 15 but subsequently returned to counsel for resubmission. PDF order upload will no longer be accepted for these matters.

PDF orders may continue to be submitted for justice desk applications and chambers hearings, though counsel is encouraged to submit a digital order when possible.​
