Canadian citizenship by descent: Changes to interpretation of ‘parent’

Despite a number of overhauls and changes as to how citizenship is obtained by right or by grant, the Citizenship Act has remained plagued by references to former versions and some outdated notions of who is deserving of Canadian citizenship.
